Artist statement

My art is colorful! I am a very open, curios and sometimes chaotic person. I paint to express myself and to share the joy of bees and nature with the world. I had some important formative experiences with death and this changed my perception of my goals and reasons in life. The main thing that stuck is that life ends some day - no matter what. And that we need to use and enjoy the time we have to our best. My art really rocketed through this experience. I want to express myself and my experience for generations to come and make others grow with me through my art.

As a beelover, wild bee saver and nature activist I want to share my experience, knowledge and impressions with my art. Every feeling I have, that I cant express with words needs to be painted - The smell of the woods, the wet moss, the feel of touching tree bark and walking on soft leafy or mossy ground, the sounds of bees humming through the air and the joy of watching critters daily work on trees and flowers. And the fear of loosing all that through societies decisions. I hope to inspire through my art for more efforts in saving nature.

My art is a mix of abstract art with bees, mushrooms and nature as main motive. I use almost every medium there is (including sculpture, calligraphy and print). I love the smell of paints, the flow of ink and color, the soft feel when applying thick strockes and the smell and fell of thick paper. I use each medium when it's strengthes work best for the things I want to show with it. I don't like being limited in my creativity through one medium only. My art is influenced by early Impressionism (brush strokes and light impressions), Expressionism (color choices and simplifications), Surrealism (symbolizing the ideas by surreal objects)  and Abstract and Fractal art (color and structure for an overall feel). My art fuses the things I appreciate at those artstyles and the mix of mediums into a colorful overall artwork.

My latest work is the result of my long journey of experimenting with colors, their effect and influence on the psyche and experiments in all different mediums. The link of those mediums in an overall consistent style is still pretty new but mindblowing for me.

"Attack on Nature"

"This piece symbolizes a main struggle nature has. On the one hand there is this whymsical almost untouched environment with bees fireflies, mushrooms, moss and flowers, mountains and lakes doing their thing. The honeycomb symbolizes the miniature ecosystem living on itself. The mushrooms stand for the cycle of life and death with decomposing as main key to keeping everything in balance. The flower stands for the beauty of nature while still producing seeds and bringing their part into the cycle by feeding others. The fireflies stand for the vunerability of the system since they need very special conditions to survive and their lights (glow-in-the dark) are only faintly visible and easily overpowered by our light-polluted world. On the other hand there is danger lurking upon everything in form of an allround pesticide. Everything sprayed with it turns colourless black and white. The gilded honeycomb turns into bees to attack this thread on its hive environment and ecosystem. It*s a futile struggle...."

"Dieses Bild symbolisiert eines der Hauptprobleme der Natur. Auf der einen Seite steht die friedliche, wunderliche, fast unberührte Natur mit Bienen, Glühwürmchen, Pilzen, Moos, Blumen und Bergen, und Seen die ihrer Beschäftigung nachgehen. Die Waben symbolisieren das kleine Ökosystem, dass für sich abgeschlossen existiert. Die Pilze stehen für den Zyklus von Leben und Tod, indem sie mit ihren zersetzenden Eigenschaften als Schlüsselelement alles im Gleichgewicht halten. Die Blume steht für die Schönheit der Natur, während Sie Samen produziert und so ihren Anteil als Futter für andere beiträgt. Die Glühwürmchen stehen für die Verletzlichkeit dieses Systems, da sie besondere Bedingungen zum Überleben benötigen. Ihre sehr schwach scheinenden Lichter (glow-in-the-dark) nur schwer zu sehen sind und leicht überstrahlt werden von unserer lichtverschmutzten Welt. Auf der anderen Seite lungert Gefahr in Form eines Allround Pestizids über allem. Alles damit besprühte wird farblos, blass, schwarz-weiß. Die vergoldeten Waben verwandeln sich in Bienen und rüsten sich zum Gegenangriff. Sie verteidigen ihren Bienenstock, ihre Umgebung, ihr Ökosystem. Ein vergeblicher Kampf..."

"This piece stands for me and my art. It shows that all different mediums and motives are united in one style in one artist. Like all the single chambers built up one honeycomb and one hive. The hive symbolizes home - The feeling that I finally feel at home in my art. That the restless path of finding my style led to the revelation of finding home in art. Although being a very divers and chaotic piece the overall coloring and the structure through the honeycomb brings order into this chaos. This is close to my personality."

"Dieses Kunstwerk steht für mich und meine Kunst. Es zeigt, dass alle verschiedenen Materialien und Medien in einem Kunststil und einem Künstler vereint sind. Zusammengesetzt -  wie die einzelnen Zellen eine Honigwabe in einem Bienenstock bilden. Der Bienenstock symbolisiert das Zuhause, das Gefühl endlich in meiner Kunst Zuhause angekommen zu sein. Dass der rastlose Pfad nach der Suche des eigenen Kunststils endlich zu dem Ziel der eigenen Kunst geführt hat. Obwohl dieses Kunstwerk sehr divers und chaotisch ist, bringt die einheitliche grün-graue Farbgebung sowie die Struktur der Waben Ordnung in dieses Chaos. Dies ist eng angelehnt an meiner Persönlichkeit."

"Keep buzzing"

"This piece has a very light atmosphere. It tries to capture the mood of lightness and happiness on a flowery meadow with bees and other insects buzzing through the air. The main intention here was to bring these emotions of joy to the canvas and share them with the viewers. One big bee is taking a break. This is to bring calm into hectic lives and to remind taking the time to enjoy the beauty of nature."

"Dieses Bild hat eine sehr leichte, unbeschwerte Ausstrahlung. Es versucht die Leichtigkeit und Freude einer Blumenwiese mit Bienen und anderen summenden Insekten in der Luft einzufangen. Die Haupintention hier ist diese Emotion von Freude auf Leinwand zu bannen und mit den Betrachtern zu teilen. Die große Biene die gerade Pause macht, soll Ruhe in das hektische Leben (hier die Farben) bringen und uns daran erinnern, sich die Zeit zu nehmen um die Schönheit der Natur zu bewundern."

"Queen Bee"

"This is an explorational piece. Does lino print work on a canvas? Yes it does! The lino print shows a deep look inside the hive with the queen bee looking into one honeycomb cell in the center. She is surrounded by worker bees tending to her. Outside the print you can see the colorful world with cornflowers and other wild flowers. The marker lines break through those strict separation of inside and outside. Bees are free spirits conquering the outside world but always returning to their homes. This duality of freedom and traditionality  is one of the things society experiences with the internet. I think society can learn from nature."

"Dies ist ein experimentelles Kunstwerk. Kann man Linoldruck auf Leinwand drucken? Klares Ja! Der Linoldruck bietet Einblick in das Leben innerhalb des Bienenstocks. Die Bienenkönigin blickt in eine Wabenzelle in der Bildmitte. Sie wird von Arbeiterinnen umrundet und umsorgt. Außerhalb des Druckes wird die farbenfrohe Welt mit Kornblumen und anderen Wildblumen sichtbar. Die schwarzen Markerlinien durchbrechen diese strikte Trennung von innen und außen. Bienen sind Freigeister, welche die äußere Welt erforschen und erobern, aber immer wieder heimkehren. Diese Zweiteiligkeit von Freiheit und Traditionsbewusstsein ist eine der Dinge, welche die Gesellschaft durch das Internet erfahren. Ich denke die Gesellschaft kann hier von der Natur lernen und Wachsen."

"The Beginning"

"This piece is named the beginning because it symbolizes one huge step in finding my own art style. Before I always felt torn between the different mediums I tried to learn and experiment with. I always felt doing everything kept me from becoming really good in one medium. Then I had the enlightment that I didn't learn the medium but I learned the basics of art and the medium is just a tool. And what I thought was my weakness is in reality my strength. Using each medium when their advantages shine the brightest for the intention I have and the goal I want to accomplish is something not everyone can do. So this variety of medium just needs to be used by me instead of the other way round. Despite being meant as a small study only this piece earned its place on my wall of accomplishments."

"Dieses Bild heißt "Der Anfang", da es einen riesigen Schritt auf der Suche nach dem eigenen Kunststil zeigt. Zuvor fühlte ich mich immer zwischen den verschiedenen Medien zerissen, mit welchen ich experimentierte und arbeitete. Es fühlte sich so an, als würde alles zu nutzen mich davon abhalten in einem einzigen Medium richtig gut zu werden. Dann hatte ich die Erleuchtung, dass ich ja nicht das Medium, sondern die Basis der Kunst erlernte und das Medium nur das Werkzeug dazu ist. So wurde das, was ich für meine Schwäche hielt, zu meiner Stärke. Jedes Medium dann nutzen zu Können, wenn seine Eigenschaften am meisten Strahlen, für den Zweck für den ich es brauche und das Ziel das ich erreichen möchte, ist etwas, dass nicht jeder Künstler kann. So kann ich die Bandbreite an Medien nutzen, statt mich von Ihnen benutzen zu lassen. Obwohl dies nur als kleine Studie gedacht war, hat sich dieses Bild einen Platz an der Wand der Errungenschaften verdient."

"flower circle of life"

"This is by far the most personal, the biggest and most time-consuming piece I ever made. I started with the ideas and the first sketches in 2016 after my father died. I sketched the first ideas, made plant studies and transfered it to canvas. But I was often overwhelmed with emotion and couldn't continue. I started painting in 2019. My thoughts at that time were really clouded. Why him? Why does everything else continue like nothing happened? What is important in life and what do I want to do with mine? I thought about the circle of life - from the beginning to the end in one individual like the flower in the center. It starts with a flowerbud that opens up and blooms, it changes to growing seeds after attracting a mate and letting those seeds fly away. Then slowly the withering comes - but in an overall look the flower lives on thousand times in the seeds. The leafs seperate the life in the three main steps - Childhood, Adulthood and Retirement. Almost like the ever-renewing cycle of nature with winter, spring, summer and autumn. The surrounding nature is arrange to those four seasons and gives insight to the flora and fauna that can be found at these times. As well as critters and insects visiting these plants. The overall color scheme varies from lifely greens and bright popping colors in spring to muted dry and olive colours in summer to darker warmer colors in autumn back to bright but light in winter. In Winter there is a view inside the hive as a reminder that nothing is dead forever and everything will start anew. Right now im 120h into the painting.

Künstler Statement

Meine Kunst ist farbenfroh bunt! Ich bin eine offene, neugierige und manchmal auch chaotische Person. Ich male, um mich auszudrücken und meine Freude an Bienen und Natur mit der Welt teilen zu Können. Ich hatte ein paar sehr prägende Erfahrungen mit dem Tod und das hat meine Ansicht über das eigene Leben, Ziele und Gründe verändert. Das wichtigste was ich dadurch gelernt habe ist, dass Leben endlich ist, und jedes Leben einmal enden wird. Und jeder daraus das beste machen sollte und jede Sekunde genießen sollte. Meine Kunst erhielt durch diese Erfahrung einen riesigen Schub nach vorne. Ich möchte mich selbst ausdrücken und meine Erfahrung mit kommenden Generationen teilen. Ebenso möchte ich andere dazu animieren mit mir und durch meine Kunst zu wachsen.

Als riesiger Bienen-Fan, Wildbienen Schützer und Naturaktivist möchte ich meine Erfahrung, mein Wissen und meine Eindrücke durch meine Kunst teilen. Jedes Gefühl das ich habe, welches ich nicht durch Worte ausdrücken kann, muss ich malen - Den Geruch des Waldes, des nassen Moos, das Gefühl beim Berühren der Baumrinde oder beim Laufen auf weichem Blätter oder moosigem Untergrund, das Geräusch von durch die Luft summender Bienen und die Freude kleine Insekten und Krabbeltiere bei ihrer täglichen Arbeit zu beobachten. Und die große Angst was unsere heutige Gesellschaft durch Entscheidungen daran zerstören kann. Ich hoffe meine Kunst kann alle dazu inspirieren mehr für den Umweltschutz zu tun.

Meine Kunst ist eine Mischung von abstrakter Kunst und Bienen, Pilzen und anderen Naturmotiven. Ich benutze fast alle existierende Medien die es gibt (inklusive Skulptur, Kalligraphie und Drucken). Ich liebe den Geruch von Farbe, das Verlaufen von Tinte und Pigment, das weiche Gefühl beim Auftrag pastoser Farbe und den Geruch und die Haptik dicken Papieres. Ich benutze jedes Medium genau dann, wenn die Stärken am Besten hervorkommen, um das Umzusetzen was ich mir im Kopf vorstelle. Ich mag nicht durch ein einziges Medium in meiner Kreativität beschränkt werden. Meine Kunst wird durch frühen Impressionismus (beim Pinselstrich und Lichtimpressionen), Expressionismus (Farbwahl und Vereinfachungen), Surrealismus (Verfremdung zur Darstellung der Idee) und abstrakter und fraktaler Kunst (Farbe und Struktur) beeinflusst. Meine Kunst vereint die Dinge die ich an diesen schätze und wird durch den Materialmix zu einem bunten Gesamtkunstwerk.

Meine neuesten Arbeiten sind das Resultat einer langen Suche, vieler Farbexperimente und deren Wirkung auf die Psyche in den verschiedensten Medien. Die Verbindung all dessen in einem konsistenten Stil ist noch neu aber umwerfend für mich.
